2nd Grade

Welcome to 2nd Grade

We are so excited to be a part of your child’s life this coming year. We hope to work with you and your child to help make this year the best one yet! Your child will be learning how to ROAR in our classroom and at school! We are focusing on positive behaviors and what those look like Like last year, all students and staff will begin the day with the ROAR Pledge. It will be an exciting and positive way to start each morning.

  • Daily folders will come home. They will contain important notes and homework.
  • Every child will have a Chromebook.
  • We allow water bottles with water only.  Water bottle must close and seal to avoid spills.
  • Your child may also bring a healthy snack everyday. No cookies, little debbie cakes, or other junk food. Please NO peanut butter because of allergies.

  • I have my bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee in Kinesiology and my masters from Lincoln Memorial University in Elementary Education.
  • This is my third year teaching.
  • My favorite things to do are play with my dog, bake, coach volleyball and spend time with my family!

  • 2015-2016 - K teacher in Putnam County
    2017-2018 - 1st grade interim at Prospect Elementary and 2nd grade interim at Fairview Elementary
    2018-2022 - 1st grade teacher at Rockford 2022-present - 2nd grade teacher at Rockford
  • I am married to Travis and we have 1 golden doodle named Winston.
  • I enjoy spending time with family, going to the beach, traveling, and eating anything chocolate.

Laura Saddlemire

  • I graduated with honors from Plattsburgh State University in 2014
  • I have masters degree from Southern New Hampshire University
  • I enlisted in the Air Force, graduating from Basic Military Training with the distinguished title of "Honor Grad." 
  • I did Active Guard Reserve tour from 2013 to 2019 at the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia, New York. 
  • I was deployed to McMurdo Station, Antarctica, in 2016 to support Operation Deep Freeze.
  • I attended Airman Leadership School in Tennessee, where she was recognized with the prestigious John Levitow Award
  • 2018-2019, I undertook a seven-week training program in Biloxi, Mississippi, to assume the role of "Airfield Management." 
  • 2017 - 2021 - I taught fifth-grade and first-grade teacher  at Molly Stark Elementary School in Bennington, Vermont .
  • I am married and have two daughters.
  • This is my first year at Rockford and I’m looking forward to a great year!
